BADASSBOX for BOSCH Motors

Where is your sensor?

The speed sensor and its positioning are decisive for which badass box you need. We distinguish between the classic mounting on the chain stay, the integrated mounting in the area of the dropout and the sensor inside the motor casing.

Sensor on the chain stay

A good indication that your sensor is on the chain stay is the presence of a spoke magnet.
In addition, the sensor is usually direct and easily visible.

Bosch Classic Sensor

If this sensor of your Bosch motor - as shown in the picture below - is located on the chain stay of your bike, then the badassBox 4 Bosch is exactly what you need.

Bosch Slim Sensor

If the sensor shown is on the chainstay of your bike, then you need the badassBox 4 Bosch Slim-Set. It is actually an adapter from Bosch that contains the pin-shaped sensor of the Bosch Smart System.

Sensor in the area of the dropout

If the sensor is integrated, then you do not have a spoke magnet, but instead a magnet on the brake disc.
To get a good view of the sensor, it is recommended to remove the rear wheel.

Bosch Classic Sensor

This sensor has been mounted on the chainstay for many years, but it is also integrated into the dropout. We have put together the badassBox 4 Bosch X-Set for this configuration.

Bosch Slim Sensor

If this sensor of your Bosch motor - as shown in the picture below - is integrated on your bike, then the badassBox 4 Bosch Slim-Set is just right for you. This is the sensor of the Bosch Smart System.

Bosch G4 Sensor

You need our badassBox 4 Bosch G4-Set if this small sensor is integrated into the dropout on your bike.

Sensor inside the motor casing

If you are unable to spot your sensor, don't worry. It probably is mounted inside the motor casing. Check the bike manual for the type of the motor and the production year. Choose your badassBox accordingly.

Bosch Rim 38

For Bosch Bikes where no sensor can be seen from the outside, check the bikes manual. For motors of type Performance CX from the year 2025 the brand-new badassBox 5 Bosch Rim 38 is the right choice.

Bosch Rim 37

For Bosch Bikes where no sensor can be seen from the outside, check the bikes manual. For motors of type Performance CX from the year 2024 the brand-new badassBox 5 Bosch Rim 37 is the right choice.

ATTENTION

The badassBox may not be operated in road traffic or within the scope of the German StVO. Use is only permitted on private property. Before using the badassBox, check whether and how its use is permitted in your area.

Fitting the badassBox may invalidate the bike's warranty. Use of the badassBox is at your own risk and peril.

FIRMWARE-UPDATES

Despite all the claims by manufacturers and workshops, firmware updates and upgrades for e-bikes are also gateways to features that could take away or restrict your choice of tuning.

We therefore recommend that you do not carry out any updates or upgrades to the motor firmware or have them carried out, for example by a bike service center, in order to retain the option of tuning.

An e-bike that works probably does not need an update.
